1. Building sustainability by strengthening the capacity of the arts and the cultural sector to work together, and to embrace practical and track aspirational technologies to expand their effectiveness and reach. 

2. The capacities audit will provide opportunities for Arts Council and related arts organizations to learn from each other and maximize the collaboration and engagement of possibilities of the digital age.

3. Partners will be supported to integrate practical digital platforms and tools to advance their individual organizations, as well as build a robust shared network.

About DIG

The Digital Innovation Group came into being through a Canada Council for the Arts Grant. The need for the group became apparent during the webcast “Vancouver Island – Arts and Culture Powerhouse?” held in July 2019. The main goal being to establish a Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands Digital Innovation Group (DIG) transforming how Arts Councils operate, collaborate and communicate from March 2020 to December 2021.

The group consists of six Arts Council from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands:

  • Arts Council of Ladysmith and District (ACLD) represented by Ora Steyn, Committee Chair

  • Cowichan Valley Arts Council(CVAC) represented by Janet Magdanz

  • Salt Spring Arts Council (SSAC) represented  by Yael Wand

  • Comox Valley Arts (CVA) represented by Kera McHugh

  • Hornby Island Arts Council (HIAC) represented by Andrew Mark

  • The Old School House Art Center (TOSH) represented by Ilana Hester
